COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — The Columbus Police Department’s Community Policing Unit has been named the “First Friday Heroes” for March 2026.
Piedmont Columbus Regional highlights the following from the Community Police Unit for their service:

- Cpl. Taurus Edwards
- Cpl. Heather Hicks
- Cpl. Julio Miranda
- Cpl. Demetrius McDowell
- Cpl. Tim Millheiser
- Cpl. Brandon Hunter
Piedmont Columbus Regional recognizes first responders and local heroes as “First Friday Heroes” every month to highlight those who have gone above and beyond for their community. Piedmont Columbus Regional first started the program back in 2016.
Piedmont Columbus Regional says the Columbus Police Department’s Community Policing Unit has exemplified what it means to be a hero through their actions of bravery, selflessness and service to their community. They have catered to Columbus through building relationships with several organizations, schools, churches, group homes and people in need.
