MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Tragedy strikes in the Highland Heights neighborhood after a grandmother was killed when a tree falls on the family home as storms swept through the area on Saturday morning.
Memphis fire crews were at the home in the 3300 block of Given Ave., near N. Holmes St. for several hours as a storm system moved through the area.

WREG’s Katelyn Barker spoke with the victim’s daughter and said the victim, 61-year-old Sylvia Espinoza, was asleep when the tree collapsed on their family home.
Memphis police confirm officers were called to the scene just after 10:30 a.m. Officers say a woman was found dead at the scene and they did not see signs of foul play.
Tree crews were on the scene for hours working to remove the tree from the home.
