I’ve been driving my Street Legal Golf Cart for 16 years here in The Villages.
In all the years I’ve been driving this golf cart I’ve had maybe a dozens of folks driving their cars mainly at intersections tell me that I’m not allowed to cross that intersection and should move to the cart path. However, this winter I’ve had more comments at intersections but more importantly for the first time I’ve had irate drivers scream at me to get the “F off the road” and in one instant a driver on Buena Vista tried to run me off the road because they don’t understand the Florida State Statue regarding Low Speed Vehicle (LSV) or Street Legal Golf Carts It’s clear to me that there are more new folks moving here that have a misunderstanding of the law regarding LSVs and are becoming more irate and in one case dangerous.
Believe me when I say I drive defensively when on the road or crossing an intersection and will pull over to the golf cart path and slow down to the 20 mph speed limit on golf cart paths if someone behind me wants to go faster and pass especially on Morse Boulevard…
