Tornado watch in effect until 10 p.m. Friday

The National Weather Service offices in Johnston have issued a tornado watch for the Perry area until 10 p.m. Friday.

Thunderstorms are also likely, the NWS said, with the potential for severe weather mainly from late Friday afternoon into early Friday night. Large and very large hail — up to 2 inches in diameter — and damaging wind gusts up tp 70 mph will be possible along with a few tornadoes mainly in southwest Iowa.

Along with Dallas County, the tornado watch includes Adair, Adams, Audubon, Boone, Calhoun, Carroll, Cass, Clarke, Decatur, Fremont, Greene, Guthrie, Hamilton, Madison, Mills, Montgomery, Page, Polk, Pottawattamie, Ringgold, Shelby, Story, Taylor, Union, Warren and Webster counties…
