Aliamanu Middle School students win Design Thinking AI Challenge

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Aliamanu Middle School students used AI and design thinking to tackle a problem on their campus.

Giuliana Siler, Mikhenzie Balais, Marina Moana, Jingning Tong and Hazel Trowbridge beat 11 other public middle and high school teams, using the design thinking process to create an app called “WhereU@AMS” that uses AI to connect students on their campus.

The group joined HNN’s “Sunrise” to talk about their experience, saying it was their first time using design thinking and AI, and that they had never coded and are not “techie.”…
