17-year-old charged with DUI after crashing into Knoxville home, severely injuring man, police say

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – The Knoxville Police Department said a teen has been charged with DUI after crashing into a home early Sunday morning.

According to KPD, officers responded to a home in the 1200 block of Texas Avenue after a car crashed into a home and left the scene. A 59-year-old man at the home was also hit and suffered “numerous severe non-life-threatening injuries” and was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for treatment.

Evidence at the scene and witness statements revealed that a Nissan Altima was traveling east on Texas Avenue and hit a curb and utility pole before crashing into the home…
