KISSIMMEE — Blood, sweat and tears went into the 2025-26 Polk County high school wrestling year. And as a result, it was a moment of epic proportions for Polk County high school wrestling Saturday at the Silver Spurs Arena in Kissimmee.
Lake Gibson won its fifth Class 2A FHSAA IBT State Wrestling Championship — 12th overall title ― thanks to its 179 points, just besting Somerset’s 173, while also notching a single state champion in Jeremiah Chavis (215 pounds). What was also historical was that McKeel wrestler Jacob Reber (150) registered the program’s first individual state champion and George Jenkins’ Raymond Shaw (190) is the program’s first two-time IBT state champion in program history.
