Several lots have been cleared in southern Brunswick County, paving the way for thousands of new home construction.
Chunks of property in and around Ocean Isle Beach have been prepared to be cleared, stripped bare by bulldozers or are already being built upon. With McDonald’s recently finding a home in Ocean Isle Beach, residents can expect a bigger wave of development to come as more projects come to light.
There are over 20 developments either being constructed or waiting to be built in Brunswick County’s jurisdiction between Ocean Isle Beach, Shallotte, Sunset Beach and U.S. 17. Of the approved developments, more than 10 are along already busy roads in the Ocean Isle Beach area.

On Feb. 10, Ocean Isle Beach officials approved the final plat for Phase 1A of Stanley Martin Homes’ The Tides planned unit development. Of the total 517 single-family units and 132 duplex villas, Phase 1A includes 46 lots, an amenity area and designated open space on 37.23 acres…
