Scattered storms likely across Southeast Texas Sunday. Here’s when chances are highest.

A cold front pushed into Southeast Texas on Saturday evening, sending a cluster of thunderstorms into the region. On Sunday, that front is expected to stall along the Gulf Coast, keeping rain chances in the forecast for Houston and the surrounding areas.

However, Sunday will not be a washout. In fact, much of the day may end up dry across Southeast Texas. Sunday’s forecast

Thankfully, the threat of severe weather is low. That said, a few stronger storms could still produce small hail and wind gusts up to 50 mph. These storms are most likely to develop closer to the coast, including areas such as Port Arthur, Texas City, Galveston and Lake Jackson.

Late morning (9 a.m. to noon): Houston’s rain chances will drop to around 30% during this time, with higher chances of storms likely to continue along the coast. Temperatures will stay relatively steady, hovering in the upper 60s to low 70s by noon…
