WAYNE – 77-year-old Ellen Erwin of Laurel was killed and her 79-year-old husband, Richard Erwin, is in critical condition in Lincoln following an accident Saturday morning at the intersection of Highway 275 and Highway 15.
According to the Stanton County Sheriff’s office, both occupants were in a south-bound pickup truck that failed to stop at the intersection, just after 10am.
The vehicle veered southwest across Highway 275 and became airborne for over 40-feet before striking a dirt embankment and rolling onto its side. Both occupants were trapped inside the wreckage. The driver was extricated by personnel from Pilger and Wisner Fire-Rescue personnel. The driver was flown directly to Lincoln by LifeNet medical helicopter.
