WILLARD, MO – Hillcrest head coach Jordan Fielding had a strong feeling of deja vu during Saturday’s Class 5 District 6 championship.
Down 11 points to Carl Junction midway through the third quarter, Hillcrest fought all the way back to win 63-31 on a Kyrese Simpson layup through traffic with seconds to play.
“Yesterday in practice, I told them some type of adversity is going to happen today,” Fielding said. “Funny thing is, three years ago when we won (districts), the same thing happened. We got down 10 to Parkview, and we fought back and won. These games don’t happen without adversity. I knew it was going to happen at some point, and so I told them to stay the course, keep grinding and make plays. They made them all season, and they made them tonight.”…
