Thornton man sentenced to 68 years for kidnapping, assaulting teen girl

A Thornton man was sentenced to nearly 70 years in prison Friday for kidnapping and sexually assaulting a teenage girl in 2023.

Phillip Torres, 44, received 68 years-to-life in prison, the maximum allowable sentence under the law, for kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in his home on June 20, 2023, according to a Friday news release from the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.

Torres had been found guilty of all charges, including sexual assault, first-degree assault, second-degree kidnapping, sexual assault on a child and enticement of a child on Oct. 9, 2025, following a nine-day trial, according to the release…
