Eugene-Springfield residents express concern over rising gas costs in Oregon

EUGENE, Ore. – Gas prices are on the rise across the United States, with a significant impact felt in Oregon. Experts attribute this spike to the ongoing war with Iran, which has disrupted the global oil trade.

Nationally, the average gas price has climbed to $3.45, marking the highest level since August 2024. In Oregon, the American Automobile Association (AAA) reports that the average price has soared past $4.18, up nearly 20 cents per gallon from last week, and up nearly 70 cents per gallon from last month.

“We need fuel to get back and forth to work. So it’s hitting the economy hard,” said Heather McMahon, a Springfield resident. “And if it’s only been a couple of weeks, I can’t imagine how much longer it’s going to really affect us.”…
