Georgia man sentenced for role in WNY conspiracy

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A man from Atlanta will be spending the next 34 months in prison after he conspired with three others to steal from businesses in Western New York, the U.S. Attorney’s office announced Monday.

Between January and September 2022, Lorenzo Jones, 38, and his three co-conspirators stole checks from businesses in Tonawanda, Clarence, Elma, Sanborn and Alden.

They then recruited others to cash the checks in work clothes to appear like construction workers or laborers. If the checks were successfully cashed, they would be paid for their role…
