Teachers in East Bay school district to strike Monday

Dublin teachers planned to strike Monday after their union and the school district failed to reach a labor agreement Sunday.

Dublin Unified School District sites were expected to remain open on an adjusted schedule during the strike, with administrators and guest teachers planning to supervise students, according to the district. Meals, sports and special education services were expected to continue, as well.

The district said in a statement that it was “ready to sign” an agreement that mirrored a state-appointed fact-finder’s proposal, but the union put forward a counterproposal that “would require substantial additional reductions to student-facing programs, staffing, and services, and push the district into insolvency.”…
