Ditman Street Night Of Gunfire Leaves Two Wounded In Separate Shootings

Two people were wounded in separate shootings tied to the same Northeast Philadelphia street overnight, according to police, who say they are still working to piece together what happened.

The first report came in around 10:13 p.m. Friday on the 4600 block of Ditman Street, where officers say a woman was shot and rushed to a nearby hospital. Hours later, around 6 a.m. Saturday, a man showed up at a local hospital with a gunshot wound. Police say he is in stable condition.

Police account

According to NBC10 Philadelphia, officers responded to the Ditman Street shooting just after 10 p.m. on March 6 and took the woman to a nearby hospital after she was struck by gunfire. The outlet reports that the male victim arrived at a hospital around 6 a.m. on March 7, is listed in stable condition, and that both cases have been assigned to the police department’s Shooting Investigation Group.

Who’s investigating

The city’s Shooting Investigation Group is the unit the department regularly taps to handle shooting cases, and the Philadelphia Police Department’s public pages show it frequently posts wanted notices and requests tips from the public tied to its investigations. The department is again asking anyone with information, video or other potential evidence to contact investigators so they can clarify where and how each shooting unfolded.
