Actress Jennifer Runyon, Known for “Ghostbusters” and “Charles in Charge,” Dies at 65

Jennifer Runyon, an actress beloved for her roles in the classic films “Ghostbusters” and the popular sitcom “Charles in Charge,” passed away on Friday at the age of 65. Her representative confirmed that Runyon died following a six-month battle with cancer.

In a heartfelt statement shared on social media, Runyon’s family expressed their grief: “This past Friday night our beloved Jennifer passed away, it was a long and arduous journey that ended with her surrounded by her family.” They added, “She will always be remembered for her love of life and her devotion to her family and friends,” concluding with the comforting thought that “she’s looking down on all of us with her beautiful smile. Rest in peace our Jenn.”

Erin Murphy, who famously played young Tabitha Stephens in “Bewitched,” took to social media to mourn the loss of her close friend. “So sad to share that my friend Jennifer Runyon Corman has passed away after a brief battle with cancer,” Murphy wrote.

“Some people you just know you’ll be friends with before you even meet. She was a special lady.

I’ll miss you Jenn. My thoughts are with your family and beautiful children.”

A native of Chicago, Runyon began her acting career in the 1980 slasher film “To All a Goodnight,” soon after landing a supporting role on the soap opera “Another World.” She gained widespread recognition for her memorable portrayal of a student undergoing an ESP test conducted by Bill Murray’s character, Peter Venkman, in the 1984 blockbuster “Ghostbusters.” That same year, Runyon appeared in “Up the Creek” before taking on the role of Gwendolyn Pierce in the sitcom “Charles in Charge.”

Jennifer Runyon is survived by her husband, Todd Corman, and their two children, son Wyatt and daughter Bayley.
