Upper Arlington’s Golden Bear site awaits new construction plans

UPPER ARLINGTON, Ohio (WCMH) — After the former Golden Bear shopping center was demolished in 2023, the site along Riverside Drive and Fishinger Road has largely sat quiet.

People passing by 3700 Riverside Drive might have noticed that the property’s fencing and construction equipment have been removed. The parcel was previously tapped for redevelopment into luxury condos, retail and offices, but the City of Upper Arlington’s construction approval expired last October.

The company behind the project told NBC4 the pause is intentional as plans are reassessed. Scott Patton of Arcadia Development said its design goals were recently reset after the business acquired the neighboring Arby’s restaurant property late last year, which “effectively doubled [the scope] in size and scale.”…
