Old Six Flags site cleared as developers seek $50M in taxpayer funding

NEW ORLEANS — The former site of Six Flags New Orleans has officially been cleared, marking a major step toward the long-awaited redevelopment known as Bayou Phoenix.

Developers say demolition of the old theme park structures is complete, and planning is now underway for the next phase of construction at the massive New Orleans East site.

Next Step: Site Assessment

Bayou Phoenix developer Troy Henry says the immediate focus is on securing additional funding and completing a detailed assessment of the property.
