Roxbury Lanes and Roxy’s Casino change hands in $5.8 Million deal; New owners are experienced entrepreneurs

Roxbury Lanes, a local fixture located at 2823 S.W. Roxbury St., has officially changed ownership following a recent sale valued at just over $5.8 million. According to King County records, the property was sold by Store Master Funding VIII LLC, an Arizona-based lending specialist that had originally acquired the site in 2016 for $2.8 million. The transition marks a significant shift for the establishment, which includes the well-known Roxy’s casino and cardroom.

This acquisition occurs within a shifting landscape for regional card rooms, which often compete with larger tribal operations by focusing on a more intimate, community-oriented atmosphere. Industry veterans Ryan and Sokha Kunkel are the new owners and revitalized the former Iron Horse Casino in Auburn, reopening it as the Imperial Palace Casino.

The Kunkels have noted that while large tribal casinos offer vast entertainment, smaller card rooms survive because they are “personal,” allowing regulars to know dealers by name and feel like one of a hundred guests rather than one of thousands.
