Teen accused in overnight break-in of abandoned Southwest Portland school

PORTLAND, Ore (KOIN) — A 17-year-old was arrested after police say he broke into an abandoned school building in Southwest Portland early Saturday morning, marking the latest in a string of similar incidents.

Just after 12:30 a.m., officers responded to reports of a burglary in progress at an abandoned school building in the 8900 block of Southwest 5th Avenue.

Less than a half-mile away, officers found two people near Southwest 55th and Orchid Street. One of them ran off and the other, a 17-year-old boy from Beaverton, was taken into custody, police said…
