Off-duty firefighter helps save Chesapeake home from fire

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — An off-duty firefighter from the Suffolk Fire & Rescue Department saved a home from significant fire damage Sunday evening, according to officials. The firefighter lives nearby and became aware of the blaze and immediately responded.

The Chesapeake Fire Department units were then dispatched around 5:44 p.m. to the fire in the 1200 block of Balladeer Court in the Great Bridge area of Chesapeake.
