Foggy start, storms possible tonight with a stronger front arriving later this week

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Good Monday morning! We are getting the week started on a fairly mild note across the region, with mostly clear skies helping temperatures remain comfortable early on. However, if you are heading out the door this morning, you will want to keep an eye out for areas of patchy dense fog. Some spots could experience reduced visibility, especially along roadways and in low-lying areas. The fog may linger for a while, so expect it to stick around through the early morning commute and gradually improve by mid-morning.

As we move into the afternoon, temperatures will rebound nicely after Sunday’s brief break from the warmth. Highs are expected to climb back into the 80s. Skies will trend mostly cloudy through much of the day, starting in the morning and continuing into the afternoon hours.

Later tonight, our attention turns to the possibility of a mesoscale convective system, also known as a thunderstorm complex, moving through the region. While details are still coming together, there is the potential for some storms to produce strong, damaging wind gusts. It will be something to monitor as we head into the overnight hours…
