Man stole $200K in gold coins from elderly person at Harrisburg business: police

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHP) — A man is facing charged for allegedly using a false check to exchange gold coins at the Simple Gold Exchange in Harrisburg’s Colonial Park Mall.

According to Lower Paxton police, in December 2025 Christian Shea Carter, 41, paid an elderly person $200,000 via check for gold coins.

When the check bounced, Carter allegedly blamed the bank and refused to return the coins or reimburse the victim until police intervened…
