New affordable senior housing community opens in West Mobile

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Finding affordable housing is a challenge for many people, but it can be especially difficult for seniors living on fixed incomes. In West Mobile, city leaders and community partners are celebrating a new development they say will help fill that gap: Live Oak Trace, an affordable housing community built specifically for older residents.

On Monday morning, the City of Mobile joined nonprofit and private-sector partners to mark the opening of Live Oak Trace, a $19.8 million senior housing community on Overlook Road. The development will provide 56 apartment homes for residents ages 55 and older and is part of a broader effort to expand affordable housing across the city.
