Cuban sandwich and empanada from Sazon Latin Grill
When people ask me about good restaurants in Baton Rouge, I’m quick to name Sazon Latin Grill, a family-owned spot on O’Neal Lane. When I had a hankering for a Cuban sandwich, I knew just the place.
The Cuban empanada came stuffed with juicy, shredded beef and was served with a side of cilantro-lime sauce, which I hadn’t tried yet. The sauce was so good! The cilantro brought a bright flavor, and the lime juice added a punch of acidity. I dipped my sandwich in it, too.
The Cuban sandwich was built as it should be: pork, ham, Swiss cheese, pickles and mustard on French bread. It tasted just like I remembered: downright delicious. I sent photos and bragged about the meal in my family group text.
If it’s your first time here, I recommend this order to start off, because you can’t go wrong with this classic handheld and empanada. Though it’s about a 20-minute drive from my house, the flavors are worth it every time…
