LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Arkansas emergency officials are assessing damage after severe storms produced the state’s first confirmed tornado of 2026 early Saturday, destroying homes and injuring one person.
The National Weather Service confirmed an EF‑2 tornado struck down in Nevada County before sunrise on March 7.

Arkansas Division of Emergency Management officials said six homes were damaged as well as three mobile homes, one which was destroyed.
ADEM said that with more severe weather expected this week, residents are urged to stay weather‑aware and review safety plans.
Safety Reminders:
- Seek shelter in an interior room or basement during tornado warnings.
- Use multiple alert systems, including weather radios and smartphone alerts.
- Never drive through floodwaters — “Turn Around, Don’t Drown.”
- Keep a disaster kit with food, water, medications, flashlights and key documents.
