Lost for 82 years: WWII dog tag of Oregon soldier found in Australian bush

A former U.S. Army base on the outskirts of Rockhampton in Queensland, Australia, was once home to more than 70,000 U.S. Army troops during World War II, including Oregon’s 41st Infantry Division.

The site, now privately owned, attracts a small group of metal detectorists searching for relics among the scattered eucalyptus trees and thick bushland.
