Trooper Sarah Clasen’s court date this week rescheduled to August

TRI-CITIES, Wash. — The next court date for Washington State Patrol Trooper Sarah Clasen has been pushed back to August 12.

Clasen was scheduled to appear on Wednesday, March 11, but according to Spokane County Prosecutor’s Office Spokesperson Julie Humphreys, she will not appear before the court for another five months. Humphreys said the delay is due to additional discovery in the case—essentially the transfer of evidence between the prosecutor and defense attorney.

This is at least the third time Clasen’s court dates have been rescheduled since she pleaded not guilty in September to killing 20-year-old Jhoser Sanchez. Come August 12, it will have been just shy of a year-and-a-half since the crash, where she is accused of turning in front of Sanchez while driving under the influence…
