Big Momma’s Bicycles rides through business cycles

Big Momma’s Bicycles in Naples is a complete bike shop. Located at 850 Seagate Drive Unit F, the shop is tucked away from Naples’ busy downtown. But that hasn’t stopped this shop from successfully riding through the cycles of business, leisure and transportation trends from the pandemic that had nearly everyone hopping on a bicycle to the changing trends in electronic bikes and others.

The unique name—Big Momma’s—doesn’t describe an actual bicycling person in this case. According to bicycle salesman and front desk greeter Jim Johnson, it may be little more than a marketing ploy. “The name is catchy,” he said. “It doesn’t have much of a meaning beyond that.”

Sales and repair services at Big Momma’s are catchy, too. This small local business has been open and thriving since 2005. They thrived through the booming time of bicycling during the Covid-19 Pandemic with many people requiring bicycle tune-ups, repairs and new purchases. Then, electric and motorized bicycles continually increased in popularity for rentals and for purchase.

In the same way that bicycles have many working parts, so do daily operations at Big Momma’s Bicycle Shop. A few steps into the shop is the repair center.
