PA fraud alert issued for ‘toll violation’ text messages

PENNSYLVANIA (WTAJ) — A statewide consumer fraud alert has been issued by the Philadelphia courts on Sunday involving phony text messages asking recipients to appear in court for a ‘toll violation’.

The courts are warning consumers of a fake text messaging scam claiming to come from the Traffic Division of Philadelphia Municipal Court. The texts tend to be labeled “Notice of Hearing – TOLL VIOLATION”.
