Savannah Bananas sweep Firefighters in front of 500th straight sellout at Grayson Stadium

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – The Savannah Bananas played in front of their 500th consecutive sold-out crowd this weekend during their home opener at historic Grayson Stadium, sweeping the Firefighters and remaining the only undefeated team in the league.

Sunday night’s series finale ended 5-1 in favor of the Bananas, who wore kilts for the home stand. A weather delay interrupted play, but the team kept fans engaged during the stoppage.

Rain delay turns into fan experience

“We had to get creative and throw beach balls around the place and create games for fans to play,” Bananas catcher Bill LeRoy said. “Rain delays honestly become sometimes a more fun experience. So, we had a lot of fun. We won the game tonight.”
