Cell phone violations at CMCSS schools are up

Six months into a cell phone ban policy, the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System said the overall feedback for the new rules is positive, but the number of cell phone violations has increased nearly 30% this year.

At the beginning of the 2025-2026 academic school year, the CMCSS Board of Education implemented a “bell-to-bell” ban of cell phones and all other personal electronic devices, in line with State law.

When school starts, the phones in Clarksville are not confiscated or put in a holding area, but students are required to turn them off. This allows students to have their phones on them in case of an emergency…
