911 call by student led police to loaded handgun at Northwoods Middle School: report

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — More information has been released by the North Charleston Police Department regarding a student who was arrested on Friday for having a loaded handgun on the campus of Northwoods Middle School.

According to a newly acquired report, dispatch received a call from a student at Northwoods Middle School on March 6 at approximately 10:46 a.m. The report states that the student caller told dispatch that they had witnessed the juvenile suspect holding a firearm while seated inside the classroom. After seeing the suspect with the firearm, the student exited the classroom, called 911, and provided dispatch with the classroom number as well as a description of the suspect.

Patrol units, along with School Resource Officers responded to the school and proceeded to the reported classroom. When they arrived, they made contact with a teacher who was reportedly in the process of escorting the suspect student out of the classroom…
