South Korean ESS component supplier will build US factory in Indiana

An energy storage component supplier is establishing a manufacturing site in Indiana that will create at least 300 jobs. Hanjung America, a subsidiary of South Korea-based Hanjung NCS, is building its first North American facility in Huntington, Indiana.

The company is a supplier for Samsung SDI and will make cooling systems and direct-injection fire extinguishers for EVs and containerized ESS.

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation said Hanjung America will break ground next month on the 133-acre site in Riverfork West Industrial Park. The company expects to begin operation in June 2027.

“We are delighted to establish Hanjung America in Huntington and to become a member of the Indiana community, and we look forward to contributing to regional development,” said Kevin Kim, president of Hanjung America. “This new location allows us to better serve our local customers with our leading-edge technology ESS components.”…
