Few people get the chance to build a home tailored to their exact wants, needs and comforts. Yet when a couple purchased the lot for their Upper Arlington home on Slate Run Road for the gorgeous ravine views, their homebuilder Kevin Knight of Kevin Knight and Co. presented them with two options: renovate, which would be easier but wouldn’t tick the boxes of their entire wish list, or do a complete tear down. They opted for a tear down.
The 5,600-square-foot home honors the ravine that caught the homeowners’ attention in the first place. The foyer greets you when you step inside, sporting light oak floors, white walls and tall ceilings, which can be found throughout the home. Step further into the open living room-dining room-kitchen to see a large window framing the view of the flora below, where Slate Run, a tributary of the Scioto River, flows. On a frigid winter morning, you can see straight through the trees to the creek (plus the host of deer, foxes, turkeys and other wildlife that roam the property), as well as the custom-built playhouse for the homeowners’ grandchild.
