A Chicago police officer shot and killed a driver Monday evening after the man struck a pedestrian and a CTA bus while attempting to flee an investigatory stop on the West Side, police said.
According to police radio traffic, the incident began around 5:38 p.m. when the Harrison (11th) District operations center officer advised patrol units that a white Mercedes connected to an expressway shooting was traveling northbound on Homan Avenue near Huron Street. The operations center provided the vehicle’s license plate and noted the original shooting occurred near Interstate 290 and Austin Avenue.
