SHELDAHL, Iowa — Residents in Sheldahl woke up Sunday to plastic bags filled with rice and fliers containing messages some community members described as hateful. Dozens of the bags were found scattered across lawns throughout the small Story County community.
Some fliers read things like, “It’s okay to be white,” while others claimed Jewish people pull strings behind the scenes. All depicted hateful imagery.
Several residents told Local 5 they were unsure how to handle the situation. One person said they refused to touch the bag left in their yard, while another said she only realized something was wrong after picking it up…
