Trial set for driver charged in double fatal OWI Hwy 172 crash

GREEN BAY (WLUK) – Although plea negotiations continue, a July 28 trial date was set Tuesday for Laney Peters, the motorist in an alleged drunk driving crash which killed two of her passengers on June 24, 2024.

Peters, 21, faces six charges, including two of homicide by intoxicated use a vehicle for the crash on State Highway 172 near Oneida Street in Ashwaubenon. Emma Daniels, 18, and Mee-Mingwaa Phillips, 19, were killed in the crash.

Defense attorney Tim Hogan told the court Tuesday his client is reviewing an offer by the state. The case will be reviewed May 26, but Judge Thomas Walsh set a trial date in case there is no resolution.
