ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — The Auburn Street reconstruction project, repairing water main, bumpy roads, and adding sidewalks to the three-mile stretch of road from North Main to Auburn High School, is five years in the making.
“It really started with the bad condition of the 100-year-old water main that’s underneath the road, and then especially the roadway and sidewalk conditions as well,” said city engineer Timothy Hinkens.
