‘Very strong and very empathetic’; Ozarks community mourns loss of Mary Beth O’Reilly

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — In 1995, Mary Beth O’Reilly was diagnosed with breast cancer.

That’s when the idea for the Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks was born.

“Mary Beth O’Reilly was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer in 1995 and went through treatment and kind of got to know what it’s all about and learned the plight of a lot of other women and families in the Ozarks that were going through something similar and realized that there was a gap between some of the assistance that was out there through groups like the American Cancer Society and what they actually needed,” Joe Daues said…
