Ozarks tenor to star in Met Opera’s live cinema event “Tristan & Isolde”

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Ozarks native and international opera star Michael Spyres will sing the role of Tristan in the Metropolitan Opera’s live cinema production of Wagner’s “Tristan and Isolde.”

The opera, a tragic love story also starring soprano Lise Davidsen as Isolde, will be presented as part of the Met’s live in HD cinema series in selected movie theaters on March 21, 2026, and on streaming services.

Spyres, a Mansfield native who is artistic director of Ozarks Lyric Opera (formerly known as Springfield Regional Opera), appears often in productions of the New York opera company.
