Tractor-trailer driver accused of firing BB gun at another vehicle on I-40

HAYWOOD COUNTY, N.C. (FOX Carolina) – A tractor-trailer driver is accused of firing a BB gun at another vehicle in Haywood County.

The Haywood County Sheriff’s Office said the victim informed them of a disturbance/disorderly incident on I-40. The rear window of their vehicle was shattered by a BB gun projectile. They also described the tractor-trailer that was involved in the incident.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol found the tractor-trailer and detained its driver at the weigh station on I-40E. Deputies seized a black Glock-replica CO₂-powered BB pistol, according to officials.

Billy Franklin Swaim, 52, is facing charges of misdemeanor going armed to the terror of the people and misdemeanor injury to personal property. He was taken to the Haywood County Detention Center and is being held under a $5,000 secured bond…
