BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A former postal worker from Cattaraugus County is facing up to five years in prison after pleading guilty to stealing a gift card from the mail, the U.S. District Attorney’s Office said Tuesday.
Officials said 47-year-old Melissa Olson removed a Visa gift card from a stamped, first-class mail envelope sometime between April and May of 2023 while working as a rural carrier associate assigned to the Randolph Post Office.
Olson pleaded guilty to theft of mail by postal employee, admitting that she opened several envelopes and “rifled through the items,” officials said…
