DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The final showing of a true crime documentary on the 1992 Dayton Christmas spree murders will be at the Englewood Cinema soon.
The event will be held on March 21 (7:30 p.m.) and March 22 (6 p.m.) Lead detective Doyle Burke will be present on Saturday and will sign copies of his book Death as a Living: Investigating Murder in the American Heartland. (Copies will not be available at the event and should be bought in advance.)
The Christmas Killers documentary follows the sixty-hour murder spree on the west side, which left six people dead and two injured:
- Christmas Eve, Joseph Wilkerson, 34.
- Christmas Eve, Danita Gullette, 18.
- [Survived] Christmas Eve, Jeffrey Wright.
- Christmas Day, Richmond Maddox, 19.
- Boxing Day, Sarah Abraham, 38.
- [Survived] Boxing Day, Jones Pettus.
- Boxing Day, Marvin Washington, 18.
- Boxing Day, Wendy Cottrill, 16.
These murders were done by a group of four juveniles / young adults, who called themselves the Downtown Posse. The members were Marvallous Matthew Keene (who was executed by the state for his actions as ringleader), Laura Jeanne Taylor, Heather Nicole Matthews and DeMarcus Maurice Smith, all of whom are still serving life in prison…
