Early on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, a Royse City Police Officer attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation on FM 2642, but the driver refused to stop and fled westbound on IH30. The pursuit continued into Rockwall, where the suspect crossed the median onto the service road near FM 3549 and stopped in a business parking lot. The driver then fled on foot into a wooded area.
With assistance from a drone operated by the Rockwall County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect, identified as Aaron Newcomb of Andersonville, TN, was located and taken into custody without incident. The Fate Department of Public Safety, Rockwall County Sheriff’s Office, and Rockwall Police Department assisted in the pursuit.
