Suspect arrested in Palomar Mountain shootings

A suspect has been arrested in connection with two recent shootings that occurred on Palomar Mountain.

During the preliminary investigation into the most recent incident, which was reported to the Valley Center Sheriff’s Substation on February 23, the victim stated he was parked on a dirt shoulder in the 32900 block of South Grade Road near the summit of Palomar Mountain. While looking at the stars, the victim said he was approached by the suspect. During the interaction, the suspect produced a handgun and fired a single round through the driver’s side window while the victim was seated inside his vehicle. The suspect then fled the scene in a vehicle. The victim was not hurt.

Similarities between this incident and a previous shooting on October 6th, 2025 —during which the victim was struck once in the arm—provided investigators with probable cause to believe the same suspect was responsible for both crimes…
