What began as a routine traffic stop in Whittier quickly escalated when officers pulled a suspicious vehicle out of an alley and uncovered a firearm and narcotics packaged for sale, authorities said. The driver, a convicted felon, was taken into custody on multiple felony counts after refusing repeated commands to get out of the car.
