Coralville begins spring cleanup at Oak Hill Cemetery; non-monument decorations removed

CORALVILLE, Iowa — The City of Coralville began its annual spring cleanup at Oak Hill Cemetery, removing certain grave decorations.

Families and friends who maintain plots at the cemetery had until March 8, 2026 to remove flowers and decorations not contained on the monument or foundation. Beginning Monday, city staff is removing and disposing of any remaining floral arrangements, decorations, flowers, bushes and shrubs.

Grave decorations include, but are not limited to, live and artificial floral arrangements, wreaths and stands, potted plants, balloons and pinwheels. Perennial plantings are not allowed at gravestones. Metal shepherd’s hooks, flags, vigil candles and solar lights will not be removed if they are flush with the gravestone foundation…
