Franklin senior gets recognized by mayor

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — When El Paso Mayor Renard Johnson launched the Team of Excellence Award last fall, his goal was to shine a spotlight on students who go above and beyond in academics, leadership, and service.

This week, that spotlight landed on Franklin High School, where senior Alejandro Esparza was named a recipient of this prestigious monthly honor.

The award recognizes Esparza’s extraordinary commitment to his education and his community, El Paso ISD said in announcing the award.

Maintaining a position in the top 2% of his graduating class, Esparza has completed a “staggering” 24 advanced courses, EPISD said…
